From Blogger to Billionaire’s Supercar Broker: The Incredible Rise of Earl Karanja

The Journey of Earl Karanja: From Humble Beginnings to Global Supercar Deals

Earl Karanja has quietly become one of the most influential figures in the world of luxury cars, orchestrating multimillion-dollar supercar deals for clients across the globe. What started as a humble blog eventually turned into a thriving international business that now earns him millions in commissions.

Before venturing into car brokerage, Karanja worked as an automotive blogger for a prestigious German magazine, where he honed his expertise and learned the nuances of the industry. His work ethic and passion for cars laid the foundation for what would become a highly successful entrepreneurial journey.

Early Life: Strict Parents and Financial Lessons

Earl Karanja grew up in Nakuru, the son of teachers who instilled discipline and the importance of financial planning from an early age. His mother would wake him up as early as 3 a.m. to study, and both parents emphasized frugality and careful money management.

Even in high school at Nakuru High, Karanja had already discovered his interest in advertising and marketing. By form three, he had started his first blog, setting the stage for a career that combined creativity with business.

Finding His Path: Education and Early Career

After high school, Karanja dabbled in mechanical engineering and telecommunication engineering, but neither field resonated with him. Eventually, he pursued International Relations “just to have the papers”, admitting it was an easy path academically but limited in terms of opportunities unless well-connected.

Wanting a practical skillset, he later took a short course at Zetech University in advertising, marketing, and public relations, which he describes as pivotal for shaping his career trajectory.

Building a Reputation: Pushing His Blog

Between 2009 and 2014, Karanja worked tirelessly to keep his automotive blog alive. His dedication caught the attention of GT Spirit, a German auto magazine, which hired him to write car reviews. He spent almost 10 hours daily researching and writing, earning between 300 and 700 Euros (Ksh 44k – 107k) per month.

“This experience helped me understand the car industry inside out,” Karanja says.

Breaking into Car Brokerage

In 2015, Karanja decided to leave blogging behind and enter the supercar brokerage industry. His first breakthrough came when he incorporated a company in Europe. With the help of a law firm, he set up the business with ease and began seeking clients globally.

The early days were tough. He recalls assisting clients without earning a cent until he realized the importance of signing contracts and establishing a structured process.

His first major commission came from selling a Porsche 911 GT3 RS to a client in Argentina, earning him 2500 CHF (Ksh 405k). Since then, Karanja has built a robust reputation and leveraged platforms like Instagram to promote supercar reviews and broker high-value deals.

The Risks: Scams in the Luxury Car World

The supercar industry, Karanja warns, is rife with conmen. One of his clients once lost €200,000 (Ksh 30 million) to a scammer posing as a legitimate supplier. The scammer even had fake recommendations to build trust, highlighting the need for diligence and strong networks in this high-stakes market.
