Waiguru Pushes for UDA Victory in Ol Kalou Poll
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has stepped up campaigns for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Samuel Muchina Nyaga in the run-up to the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election scheduled for July 16.
Addressing residents during campaign meetings, Waiguru called on voters to elect Muchina, saying his victory would ensure continuity of development projects initiated by the late area MP David Kiaraho. She emphasized the importance of working closely with the national government to accelerate development in the constituency.
The governor also urged residents to focus on electing a representative who can serve their immediate interests rather than turning the by-election into a contest over the 2027 General Election. According to Waiguru, the priority should be securing effective leadership to complete the current parliamentary term.
Joining the campaign trail were several UDA leaders, including Moses Kuria, who reiterated the government's commitment to completing stalled development projects in the constituency.
The Ol Kalou seat fell vacant following the death of former MP David Kiaraho. The by-election has attracted significant political interest, with UDA seeking to retain the seat amid growing competition from opposition parties.
