Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Lee Kinyanjui, participated in a high-level panel discussion on "Housing for Economic Transformation, Urban Equity and Human Dignity" during the Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC) in Germany, where he outlined Kenya's progress in using housing as a driver of economic growth and social development.

Kenya's Affordable Housing Agenda

During the discussion, Kinyanjui said Kenya has embraced affordable housing not merely as a construction initiative but as a key economic transformation programme. He highlighted that the government's housing agenda has contributed to job creation, stimulated local manufacturing, and improved access to decent housing for thousands of Kenyans.

He noted that the programme is also helping promote urban equity by expanding access to quality housing while supporting infrastructure development in growing urban centres.

Global Platform for Sustainable Development
The panel formed part of the third Hamburg Sustainability Conference, which brings together global leaders from governments, business, academia and civil society to discuss practical solutions for achieving sustainable development goals. This year's conference is held under the theme "The Power of Cooperation: Driving Progress Together."

The session on housing focused on strengthening international cooperation to address the global housing crisis through improved policy frameworks, innovative financing, partnerships and sustainable urban planning.

Kenya's International Engagement
Kinyanjui's participation underscores Kenya's continued engagement in international forums focused on sustainable development, investment and economic transformation. The Cabinet Secretary joined other senior government officials, development partners and experts in sharing experiences and exploring collaborative solutions to housing and urban development challenges.
