A fatal accident on Nairobi's Southern Bypass has claimed the lives of two drivers, according to police reports. The incident involved a collision between a fuel tanker and a lorry carrying flour, which occurred near the Swaminarayan Tunnel Bridge behind the Carnivore Restaurant. The fuel tanker caught fire, engulfing both vehicles and blocking traffic in both directions.

One driver was rescued and rushed to the hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were retrieved from the crash site. Emergency services, including firefighters and police officers, were deployed to manage the scene and prevent further risks from spilt fuel.

The accident is part of a concerning trend of road crashes in Kenya, with 398 people killed in accidents across the country in January alone. Reckless overtaking, speeding, and driver fatigue are among the leading causes of these crashes.
