Six U.S. service members were confirmed killed March 1, 2026, when an Iranian drone strike hit a U.S. military facility at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait — the first confirmed American military fatalities in the widening U.S.–Iran conflict.

The  four of the six soldiers — all assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command (Army Reserve) based in Des Moines, Iowa:

  • Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, of Florida
  • Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, of Nebraska
  • Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of Minnesota
  • Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20, of Iowa

Two additional U.S. service members also died in the strike but have not yet been publicly identified while families are being notified.

Nicole M. Amor (39) — Minnesota

Her husband, Joey Amor, spoke publicly about her death and sacrifice:

“She was almost home. You don’t go to Kuwait thinking something’s going to happen, and for her to be one of the first — it hurts.”

Joey also shared how caring and supportive Nicole was:

“If you needed anything she would just take care of it for you.”
Noah L. Tietjens (42) — Nebraska

His mother, Glenda, wrote emotionally on social media after his death was publicly shared:

“Can’t sleep, eyes hurt, heart hurts and is broken…”

Leaders from Nebraska also reflected on his service:

“A native of Bellevue, he dedicated his life to defending our country and protecting the freedoms we hold dear.” — paraphrased from local officials offering prayers and condolences.

Declan J. Coady (20) — Iowa

Iowa leaders and family members expressed deep sorrow:

Iowa’s governor said:

“Today, we mourn the loss of Sgt. Declan Coady … who heroically answered his nation’s call to duty and gave the ultimate sacrifice.”

Friends and community members remembered him as dedicated and brave.

Military Leaders

Lt. Gen. Robert Harter, Chief of the Army Reserve:

“We honor our fallen Heroes who served fearlessly and selflessly in defense of our nation. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifices of their families, will never be forgotten.”

Maj. Gen. Todd Erskine, Commanding General of the 79th Theater Sustainment Command:

“To the families and teammates of these soldiers: you have my deepest sympathy and my respect.” — emphasized the soldiers’ dedication and service.

President’s Remarks

President Donald Trump acknowledged the deaths and the likelihood of more casualties:

“Sadly, there will likely be more before it ends.”

The strike occurred amid escalating conflict following U.S. and allied military operations against Iran. Iran has launched a sustained wave of drone and missile attacks across the Middle East in retaliation for large-scale U.S.–Israeli air strikes. U.S. defense officials have warned that additional U.S. casualties are likely as hostilities continue.
