A man has been arrested after allegedly posing as an officer from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and demanding a KSh2 million bribe from a member of the public.
According to reports, the suspect falsely claimed to be an EACC official and allegedly used the deception to solicit money, promising to influence or interfere with an unspecified matter under investigation.
The arrest followed investigations by the relevant authorities after the alleged victim reported the incident. The suspect is now expected to face charges related to impersonation and obtaining money by false pretences, among other possible offences, depending on the outcome of investigations.
EACC Warns Against Impersonators

The EACC has consistently maintained that its officers do not demand or receive bribes in exchange for services or favourable treatment. The commission encourages anyone approached by individuals claiming to be its officers and soliciting money to report the matter immediately.
